Now Hiring: Experienced Loader/Excavator Operator

FMI Sand & Gravel is seeking an experienced, dependable Loader/Excavator Operator to join our crew. The ideal candidate takes pride in quality work, operates equipment safely and efficiently, and works well with others to keep projects moving on schedule.

This position involves operating loaders and excavators for excavation, material handling, loading trucks, grading, and general site preparation. We’re looking for someone who can follow site instructions, work accurately around utilities and existing structures, and recognize changing ground and jobsite conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Operate loaders and excavators safely for digging, trenching, backfilling, grading, and moving materials.
  • Load trucks and place or stockpile materials with care and accuracy.
  • Follow project specifications, grade stakes, and directions from the site supervisor.
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections, check fluid levels, and perform routine greasing and basic maintenance.
  • Report mechanical issues, damage, and unsafe conditions promptly.
  • Maintain awareness of nearby workers, traffic, utilities, and other equipment.
  • Communicate clearly with ground crews, spotters, truck drivers, and supervisors.
  • Keep equipment clean and help maintain an orderly worksite.
  • Assist with other jobsite duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience operating loaders and excavators in construction, excavation, or a related field.
  • Good knowledge of safe equipment operation and jobsite safety practices.
  • Ability to work efficiently while maintaining accuracy and protecting people, equipment, and property.
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently or as part of a crew.
  • Dependable attendance, punctuality, and reliable transportation to the assigned work location.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather and site conditions.

Now Hiring: CDL Class A or B Dump Truck Drivers

FMI Sand & Gravel is looking for a CDL Class A or B Dump Truck Drivers to join our team. Pay is based on experience. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting materials to and from job sites, ensuring safe and efficient operations. We are seeking a skilled and reliable Dump Truck Driver to join our team. This role requires adherence to all safety regulations and company policies, as well as excellent driving skills.

Duties:

  • Operate a dump truck to transport materials such as gravel, sand, dirt to designated locations.
  • Ensure proper loading and unloading of materials, adhering to weight limits and safety protocols.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition.
  • Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, routes taken, and materials transported.
  • Collaborate with site managers and other team members to coordinate delivery schedules.
  • Follow all traffic laws and regulations while driving to ensure safety on the road.
  • Assist in loading and unloading materials using appropriate equipment when necessary.

Experience:

  • Proven experience operating dump trucks or similar heavy equipment is preferred.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge is essential for troubleshooting equipment issues on-site.
  • Previous experience in construction or related fields is advantageous but not mandatory.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Must be able to operate a manual transmission.
  • Must be willing to work 8+ hours daily, Monday-Friday and occasionally Saturday.
  • Ability to pass a drug test and DOT physical.
  • Enthusiastic, team player willing to work in a busy environment.
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to take instruction.
